The Yogic Connect

It is quite possible to always be in charge of how you feel about your life. It may seem difficult, but with a few tweaks to your daily routine, you can absolutely crack the code with relentless efforts. A positive mind set and an energising morning routine has helped me take on each day with full power. The principle of yoga is to facilitate a sound mind, body and soul synergy. Modern day yoga practitioners have their own means and methods to help people living in the fast lane to derive effective results in a short span of time. So here are some quick life hacks for instant mind, body & soul rejuvenation for the ‘New You’, and that too without spending a dime!

Reconnect with your self: The notion of severing connections from your smartphones and other fancy gadgets may seem a tall order. But instead of logging on to facebook, whatsapp, Instagram etc every fifteen minutes or so, can we reconnect with ourselves. How do you do that? Sit in silence and observe your processes. Watch your thoughts and your feelings – are your thinking positively? Are you making healthy, ethical decisions, be it with regards to your relationships, emotions, food or finance? Reconnecting with your inner self can come easily to you if you give just two minutes to yourself, wherever you are. It does not matter if you are sitting, standing or lying down. Just close your eyes and focus on your breathing. This 2-minute meditation will give your life an upswing.

A bit of stretching can go a long way in keeping you energised through the day. Even if you don’t do an elaborate routine in the morning, during the day, stretch your arms upwards in a Talasana (palm tree pose) while at your desk, bend downwards and touch your toes in a Padhastasana (hand to  foot pose) and do a few neck rotations. These simple stretches can be done at the desk while seated and help improve blood circulation.

The idea is to get moving and as you ease into these simple stretches, you can include a yoga routine comprising Surya Namaskars, Sarvangasana (shoulderstand), Halasana (plow pose), Ardha Matsyendrasana (half spine twist pose) and even Shirshasana (headstand). Yoga postures are not aimed at weight loss, though practicing it regularly has shown significant results apart from the direct benefits of increasing resilience, body sculpting, developing tolerance, humility and self-confidence. Yoga is about holistic wellness, not merely weight loss.

Be close to Nature: An early morning walk is one of the best forms of exercise. Inhale the smell of fresh air, the sounds of the rustle of leaves, the sights of flowers and fruits, listen to the chirping of the birds; and be one with the sounds of Nature. Take note of the small things and be one with the universe for an energised being.

Earn karmic points: Earning cash back, brownie points and rewards from apps and websites have their benefits, but cannot compare to the satisfaction of earning karmic points. Do a good deed, help someone, be kind to Mother Nature, whisper a prayer for someone; whatever you can do to earn good karma.

So, channel your inner energy into divine intervention for a holistic wellness.
